slides won’t go full width in wordpress

I have been using the particles in Joomla for a couple of years, but I am new to wordpress. No matter what I do, the jlslidewp particle will only display at 840px wide in the showcase area in Hydrogen home layout. What am I missing? Do I need special CSS?

I’d like the slide to use the feature image, expand full width and crop to 800 pix height using cover CSS. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

You don’t need to add any css code for fullwidth section. Simply set the layout for special section via section settings, like this https://imgur.com/ocppWTo
